One of the topics that is often discussed on forums and message boards around the internet is the topic of online business. A number of people will tell you exactly what they think about online business and to people that have been successful in it, the majority of what they say is positive. This is because there is a bias in the positive direction when it comes to online business because many of the people in online business sell products specifically about how to make money online. Therefore, there is an inherent conflict of interest in the things they tell you. One topic not often considered is the topic of how it might be disadvantageous to get involved in online business. There are definite disadvantages to online business and some of them are discussed below.
Firstly, there is the distraction factor. Online business usually entails working from home and therefore you can find any distraction at home in order to take you away from working on your online business. The television, the stovetop, the microwave, the bed and the backyard are all distractions that can result in people getting dropped from online business and losing their sense of concentration. Concentration is key in online business and ultimately it is going to be what drives people forward to succeed.

Many people intent to start an online business because they could see the potential of making money by starting one. The start-up cost is relatively much more cheaper than starting off line business, and it could be started while keeping your day job.
But in reality and from own personal experience few years ago many online businesses fail within the first 3 to 6 months. There are countless reasons, but in reality we could sum them up into three core reasons.
TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC & TRAFFIC
It is same as buying a property, where people always say about location, location and location. In online businesses, traffic is the most important aspect if you want to make money. Lets put it this way, no matter how good is your money making website/blog but if there is no visitors, you will definitely NOT MAKE ANY MONEY.
But if you have a crappy website and somehow you have tons of traffic coming to your site, there are high chances you will make money ( may be not a lot, but there will be some). This is because you are offering people some product/services, and even when many will refuse to buy, there will be always one or two who will be interested. If you have the traffic, then you just have to change or tuned your conversion ratio to give a be better results.
You can hardly find a successful company these days that do not have a website to promote its services/products online. Some may just provide information and add links to other sites for purchases and location of branches. In order to stay competitive, they have to communicate with today’s audience whose businesses are primarily online
Having an online business means a global opportunity. A global opportunity means twenty four hours, seven days a week and all year round. Think about it, your customers from Colorado might be sleeping, those from Asia would be awake. You have an online business that never sleeps. Imagine that as soon as you wake up, you’ve already made a sale. This is what making money online is all about! However, an online business doesn’t automatically run on its own as many claims that you may have heard. First time customers trust you enough to hand money to you for a product they may have not had a chance to review, smell or touch. These customers have the potential to buy from you again if the first product meets their needs. Any enquiries or requests must be responded to efficiently and professionally.
Starting a business online is becoming more and more popular, especially in the current financial climate. The best online businesses have owners who are highly motivated and have both short term and long term goals.
Some of the best online businesses are run by people with degrees in business. They may have gone to school knowing they wanted to pursue business or they might have had another career field in mind that required a business background. However, many internet businesses have been started by people with no business background at all, which gives the general public a good chance of starting their own successful business online.
You can learn many lessons from the creators of these online businesses. By studying how they started their business and the steps they took to increase traffic to their websites we all can benefit, and use the knowledge to grow our own online businesses.
Some examples of successful businesses include Google, Myspace, and Youtube. Each of these websites was made with the idea of servicing people. Google gives millions of internet users all over the world a way to search the internet for their any term they are looking for. Google has grown with the times since it started as well and has increased its user experience by constantly updating the agorithm of search and finding new sites. Additionally they have offered users other options for their internet needs such as Gmail, Google Docs, Gtalk, and Google News.

It happens to all of us. It may have already happened to you – especially if you’re just starting out in online business: frustration. The frustration of signing up with that “golden” opportunity to make a “fortune” online. “No cash up front!” “Work only 1 hour a day!” “Get that new car next week!”
We’ve all seen these types of hyped up ads. I mean, the Internet is literally drowning in them. With so much publicity and marketing flooding your browser, how can you tell which of the opportunities are legitimate – and which just want to scam you for your credit card numbers?
Basically, there are only 2 ways to find the ripe fruit in an orchard virtually overgrown with rotten apples.
1 – Sign up, pay the price. Do the “work” and realize too late that you just flushed your hard-earned cash down the toilet.
